iDEAS - Interactive Narrative

coming up with ideas was proving really hard ! however i came up with a few by jotting it down on a pad ....
I have decided i am going to create a danger hazardous flash narrative which will include audience interaction.
It will be start off by a girl washing her hands and then the option for the audience to decide whether she dries her hands or not.....

MONOFACES

I then looked through a couple of other flash based websites however one in particular stood out;

http://www.mono-1.com/monoface/main.html

MonoFace - Click the mouth, nose, head and each eye to create a different mono face
There are 759,375 possible faces.

Ive got to admit this site is highly addictive - i was on the site for about a good 20 minutes changing the faces!
I really like this site as its funny and very contempory and it appeals to all ages

from back then - INTERACTIVE NARRATIVE

So for the first week of rotations i was scheduled to attend Interactive Narrative sessions.

In the first session we were given an introduction to what an interactive narrative is..and where we were able to come across it .. the hand-out asked us to look at and consider structure. To be honest after looking at the different examples i was really excited to get started...

I looked through the references we had been provided with, however one stood out in particular ...

At the beginning of the site there is a welcome page which allows you to chose a episode you wish to follow. I have to admit at first i was about confused at first as to what an Interactive Narrative was and how it worked. However, once i clicked on episode one i was confronted by a screen that explained what was going to be shown and warned me to turn on my speakers,
''Use your mouse to click the forward arrows, you may also need to perform an action in order for the story to continue''
I clicked through the whole of the story and even before i had done so a mood of sorrow and being anxious had been portrayed by the images selected. A child and a mum on a mission to find the father, this had been portrayed by images of rough long winded roads accompanied by phone interference noises which suggested a sense of lost connection.
Overall i really liked the way flash had been used in these stories - they really depicted the scene well and allowed the user to be taken into the situation by asking them to make certain decisions.

Fresh Start

Okay so i have kind of neglected my journal for a very long time now!
i have been caught up in a mess of family issues back home and having the flu didn't really help either

However better late then never i guess...
At the beginning the year i was a bit sceptical as to what the course was going to offer me in terms of design. Once i started attending the rotation scheduled sessions along side Tutorial and Lectures, i started to become more familiar with the course.

I have become more relaxed about this course and i have started to research in all different areas to build a portfolio of inspiration....

Billys Balloon - Don Hertzfeld

Whilst doing my foundation diploma earlier this year - during the art history lessons i came across this American Animator.
Don Hertzeld creates short animated films often obscure. I really like this animation as the suspense is immense and even though you can forward it you chose not to..and watch in suspense

GREAT! :D
